Joshua Ho-Sang was born on January 22, 1996 in Toronto, Ontario. He played minor hockey for the Toronto Marlboros of the GTHL and joined the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL for the 2012-13 season. Following a mid-season trade, Ho-Sang would complete his junior career with the Niagara IceDogs.

Drafted in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders, Ho-Sang would begin his professional career in the American Hockey League with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2016-17 season. In 50 games for the club he scored 10 times and added 26 assists for 36 points. Ho-Sang also got his first taste of NHL action during his first season as a pro. In 21 games for the Islanders he scored four times and collected six assists. Ho-Sang would split time between the Islanders and Sound Tigers once again in 2017-18. In 50 games at the AHL level he recorded 31 points to go along with 12 points in 22 games at the NHL level.
