Nick Sorensen was born on October 23, 1994 in Holbaek, Denmark. He played junior hockey in Sweden and then joined the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. Sorensen was selected in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks and would spend two seasons in the Swedish Hockey League before making his North American professional debut.

Sorensen cracked the Ducks opening night lineup to start the 2016-17 season and would appear in seven games for the club before being assigned to their AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls. He would finish the season with the Gulls and the following season sign a deal to return to Sweden.
