Tristan Jarry was born on April 29, 1995 in North Delta, British Columbia. A product of the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League, the goaltender was selected in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Jarry made his professional debut for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League during the 2015-16 season. In 33 games he posted 17 wins and recorded a goals-against-average of 2.69. The following season would be spent primarily in the AHL as well, with Jarry appearing in the AHL All-Star game and posting a league-low 2.15 goals-against-average. Jarry also made his NHL debut during the 2016-17 season, taking the ice in the Penguins final game of the regular season. He also dressed for 11 post-season games, serving as backup to Marc-Andre Fleury.
