Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Filip Forsberg
Filip Forsberg was born on August 13, 1994, in Östervåla, Sweden. A junior star in his homeland, Forsberg excelled at both the 2011 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and the 2012 World U18 Championships Tournament, helping Sweden capture the silver medal at both.

Forsberg was selected 11th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals, but would not suit up for the club. On April 3, 2013, Forsberg was traded to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Martin Erat and Michael Latta. With his season finished in Sweden, Forsberg joined the Predators towards the end of the 2012-13 season. He would go on to appear in five games for the Preds, recording his first NHL assist along the way.

In Forsberg's rookie season during the 2014-15 campaign, he was one of the best young players in the NHL. In 82 games, Forsberg would score 26 goals and 63 points. This led him to be named to the 2015 All-Rookie Team and he made an appearance at the 2015 NHL All-Star Game.

On the international stage, Forsberg helped Sweden medal in three different World Junior Championships. He would win a gold medal (2012) and two silver medals (2013 and 2014).

Forsberg would appear in all 82 games for the Predators during the 2015-16 season. He set new career-highs with 33 goals and 64 points, helping to lead the club into the NHL playoffs.
