Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Shane Prince
Shane Prince was born on November 16, 1992 in Rochester, New York. A minor hockey star, he joined the Kitchener Rangers in 2008 at the age of just 15. In 63 games that season he recorded three goals and nine assists as the youngest player in the league. During his second season with Kitchener, Prince was traded to the Ottawa 67’s.

Following a productive 2010-11 season, Prince was the final selection of the second round at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, taken by the Ottawa Senators. He would return to the 67’s and continue to establish himself as one of the Ontario Hockey League’s premier offensive players. In 57 games for the 67’s he tallied 43 goals and 47 assists for 90 points.

Prince made his professional debut in the American Hockey League for the Binghamton Senators in 2012. In 65 games the shifty winger scored 18 times and added 17 assists. He followed that up with a 21 goal season in 2013-14.

Prince would spend the majority of the 2014-15 season in Binghamton, appearing in 72 games for the club, notching an impressive 28 goals and adding 37 assists. He also got his first taste of NHL action during the 2014-14 campaign. He would suit up in two games for the Senators and record the first assist of his NHL career.

In 2015-16, Prince would struggle to find his offensive touch. In 42 games for the Senators he scored just three goals and added nine assists. On February 29, 2016, the NHL's trade deadline, he was traded to the New York Islanders in exchange for a third round draft pick.
