Stanislav Galiev was born on January 17, 1992 in Moscow, Russia. The product of the QMJHLs Saint John Sea Dogs was drafted in the third round, 86th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals.

After three season in Saint John, Galiev joined the Capitals organization who assigned him to their AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears. In the 2011-12 season and the 2012-13 season, Galiev split his seasons with the Bears and the ECHLs Reading Royals.

During the 2014-15 season, Galiev found a permanent home with the Bears, where he appeared in 67 games scoring 25 goals and 45 points. Near the end of the regular season, the Capitals rewarded Galiev with his fine play by recalling him to make his NHL debut on April 8, 2015 in a 3-0 victory over the Boston Bruins.
