Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Kevin Hayes
Kevin Hayes was born on May 8, 1992 in Boston, Massachusetts. The product of the Boston College Eagles was draft in the first round, 24th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.

During his time in Boston College, he helped the team win a National Championship in 2012. After his four years were up in the NCAA, Hayes became an unrestricted free agent as the Blackhawks were not able to come to an agreement with him.

As an unrestricted free agent, he signed an NHL entry level contract with the New York Rangers on August 20, 2014. Hayes would make the Rangers roster for the 2014-15 season and made his NHL debut on October 9, 2014 in a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues. In his rookie year, Hayes posted 17 goals and 45 points over 79 games.

In the 2017-18 season, Hayes would establish a new career-high in goals with 25. He also added 19 assists for 44 points. As a pending free agent the following season and with the Rangers sitting outside of the playoffs, Hayes was among the top targets at the NHL trade deadline. On February 25, 2019, Hayes was sent to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Brendan Lemieux and a pair of draft picks.

On the international stage, Hayes has represented the United States once during a sixth place finish at the 2014 World Championship.
