Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Nick Jensen
Nick Jensen was born on September 21, 1990, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. A product of the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, he was selected in the fifth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings and would go on to play three seasons at St. Cloud State University.

Jensen would make his professional debut in the American Hockey League with the Grand Rapids Griffins and would spend the better of three and a half seasons with the club before getting his first taste of NHL action. He suited up for the Red Wings for the first time on January 24, 2016 and would go on to appear in 49 games during the 2016-17 season, notching four goals and nine assists.

Jensen appeared in 81 games for the Red Wings during the 2017-18 season. He played the majority of the following season in Detroit as well, but as a pending free agent and with the Red Wings sitting outside of a playoff spot, he was traded at the deadline to the Washington Capitals along with a fifth-round draft pick to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Madison Bowey and a second-round draft pick.
