Casey Cizikas was born on February 27, 1991 in Toronto, Ontario. A product of the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey League, Cizikas was selected in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders. His final junior season was his most prolific. In 52 games he notched 29 goals to along with 34 assists for 64 points.

Cizikas made his professional debut in the American Hockey League for the Islanders' AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, during the 2011-12 season, scoring 15 goals and 30 assists for an impressive 45 point total. He would also see action in 15 games at the NHL level for the Islanders.

With the Islanders, Cizikas would find a home a line with Matt Martin, and Cal Clutterbuck on what was considered by many to be the best and most physical fourth lines in the NHL.
