Jeremy Morin was born on April 16, 1991in Auburn, New York. A product of the United States National Team Developmental Program he was selected in the second round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers.

On June 24, 2010 Morin's rights were traded to the Chicago Blackhawks along with Marty Reasoner, Joey Crabb and a pair of draft picks in exchange for Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Sopel, Ben Eager and Akim Aliu,

Morin made his profession debut with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League during the 2010-11 season. He would also see action in nine games for the Blackhawks during the 2010-11 season, scoring twice and adding an assist.

Morin was later traded by Chicago to the Columbus Blue Jackets, followed by a return trade to Chicago during the 2015 off-season. He would begin the 2015-16 season in the American Hockey League, where he recorded 22 points in 28 games for the Rockford IceHogs. Morin was then traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs and assigned to their AHL affiliate. In the days leading up to the NHL's trade deadline, Morin found himself on the move again. He was traded alongside James Reimer to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Alex Stalock, Ben Smith and a fourth round draft pick.
