Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Chris Brown
Chris Brown was born on February 3, 1991, in Flower Mound, Texas. A product of the U.S. National Development Program, he then attended the University of Michigan and was selected in the second round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes.

Brown would make his professional debut in the American Hockey League for the Portland Pirates during the 2012-13 season and would excel immediately. In 68 games for the club he would record an impressive 29 goals. His strong play was rewarded with his first taste of NHL action. He would suit up for five games for the Coyotes during the lockout-shortened season, though he would fail to factor into the scoring.

On March 4, 2014, Brown was dealt by the Coyotes along with Rostislav Klesla and a fourth-round pick to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Martin Erat and John Mitchell. Brown would spend the majority of his time in the Capitals organization with their AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears. In 2014-15 he would suit up in 64 games for the club, scoring 17 times.

Brown's time with the Capitals would come to an end one day prior to the NHL's trade deadline. He was traded to the New York Rangers in exchange for Ryan Bourque.
