Kyle Charles Palmieri was born February 1, 1991 in Smithtown, New York. He was selected in the first round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks and would join the club's AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch in 2010.

In his first professional season, Palmieri would impress at the American Hokey League level, scoring 29 goals in 62 games. Palmieri also saw action in 10 games for the Ducks during 2010-11, scoring the first goal of his NHL career. The following year would be a similar one for Palmieri. In 51 AHL games he recorded 31 goals and in 18 NHL games he lit the lamp four times.

Palmieri played in parts of five seasons for the Anaheim Ducks, including a trip to the Western Conference Final during the 2014-15 season, before he was traded to the New Jersey Devils for a second and third round draft choice at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

In his first season in New Jersey, Palmieri would appear in all 82 games and set new career-highs in goals (30), assists (27) and points (57).
