Peter Mannino was born on February 17, 1984 in Farmington Hills, Michigan. As the backstop for the University of Denver, he led the Pioneers to the 2005 NCAA Championship.

Prior to the 2008-09 season, Mannino signed with the New York Islanders. Though he would spend the majority of the season with the club's AHL affiliate, he would make his fist NHL start. In all, he would appear in 3 games for Islanders during 08-09.

On July 6, 2009, Mannino signed with the Atlanta Thrashers.
