Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jimmy Hayes
Jimmy Hayes was born on November 21, 1989. A product of the USNTD, the USHL and Boston College of the NCAA, Hayes was selected in the second round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Following his collegiate career, Hayes was traded by the Maple Leafs to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a second round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Hayes made his professional debut in the American Hockey League foe the Rockford Icehogs at the tail end of the 2010-11 season. He would split time the following year (2011-12) between Rockford and Chicago. In 31 NHL games with the Blackhawks Hayes would record five goals and four assists.

On November 14, 2013, the Blackhawks traded Hayes, along with Dylan Olsen, to the Florida Panthers for Kris Versteeg and Philippe Lefebvre. Hayes had his broke out during the 2014-15 season which saw him score 19 goals and 35 points over 72 games for the Panthers.

During the 2015 off-season, Hayes was traded to the Boston Bruins for Reilly Smith and Marc Savard. In his first season in Boston, Hayes would appear in 75 games and notch 13 goals to go along with 16 assists. He would struggle to find his form the following season and in the summer of 2017 the Bruins bought out the remaining year of his contract. Prior to the start of the 2017-18 season, Hayes inked a deal with the New Jersey Devils. He would suit up in 33 games for the club, scoring three times and adding six assists. As a free agent once again in the summer of 2018, Hayes signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
