Mark Letestu was born on February 4, 1985 in Elk Point, Alberta. A standout scorer in the AJHL for four seasons, he spent one year at Western Michigan University before signing on with the Pittsburgh Penguins as an undrafted free agent in March of 2007.

He made his professional debut in the AHL for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2007 where he continued to put up impressive offensive numbers. In 2009 Letestu made his NHL debut for the Penguins in a game against the Boston Bruins. In all he would suit up for 10 regular season games and four playoff games for the club during the 2009-10 season.

On November 8, 2011, Letestu's time in Pittsburgh would come to an end. He esd traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a fourth round draft pick.

After three solid seasons in Columbus, which included 12 and 13 goal campaigns, Letestu found himself a free agent following the 2014-15 season. On July 1, 2015, he inked a deal with the Edmonton Oilers.

Letestu would appear in all 82 games for the Oilers during the 2015-16 season, scoring 10 times and adding 15 assists.

On February 25, 2018, one day prior to the NHL trade deadline, Letestu was shipped to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Pontus Aberg. Later that day, Letestu was sent back to Columbus in exchange for a 2018 fourth-round pick.
