Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Trevor Smith
Trevor Smith was born on February 8, 1985 in Ottawa, Ontario. Following two years at the University of New Hampshire, Smith joined the New York Islanders AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers where he continued to show offensive promise.

Smith would make his NHL debut in 2008-09 for the New York Islanders, appearing in seven games for the club, recording the first goal of his NHL career.

On July 2, 2010, Smith joined the Anaheim Ducks organization, signing as an unrestricted free agent. Smith's time in California would be short-lived however, he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets on January 4, 2011.

Smith would finish the 2010-11 season with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League and in the summer of 2011, as an unrestricted free agent, he inked a deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

After one season with the Lightning, Smith signed a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 1, 2012. He would spend the following season primarily in the American Hockey League and would become an unrestricted free agent again the following season.

On July 5, 2013, Smith would sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs and would split time between the Leafs and their AHL affiliate for the next two seasons. After spending a year in the Swiss league, Smith signed a deal with the Nashville Predators on July 2, 2016.
