Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- John Albert
John Albert was born on January 19, 1989 in Cleveland, Ohio. As a product of the United States National Development Team, Albert would be drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 6th round, 175th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Before becoming a professional, Albert elected to go to college where he would play for the Ohio State University Buckeyes. After four years with Ohio State University, he would sign his first professional contract on July 20, 2011 with the now Winnipeg Jets.

On December 2, 2013, Albert would make his NHL debut for the Winnipeg Jets. In that game he would score his first NHL goal on his first NHL shot, leading his team to a 5-2 win over the New York Rangers.

In the summer of 2016 Albert's time in the Jets organization would come to an end. He signed a deal with Karpat of Finland's top league. A free agent again the following summer, Albert signed with the Washington Capitals and began the 2017-18 season with the club's AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears. In the days leading up to the 2018 NHL trade deadline, Albert was on the move again. This shipped along with Hubert Labrie to the New York Rangers in exchange for Adam Chapie and Joe Whitney.

On the international stage, Albert represented the United States at the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge and the IIHF World Under 18 Championships. In both tournaments he helped lead the country to silver medals.
