Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Matt Halischuk
Matt Halischuk was born on June 1, 1988 in Toronto, Ontario. He was drafted 117th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2007 NHL entry draft.

Though he spent the majority of the 2008-09 season with the Lowell Devils of the American Hockey league, Halischuk did get his first taste of NHL action. He played a single game for New Jersey, recording an assist against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In 2009-10, Matt would split time between New Jersey and the AHL's Lowell Devils. On June 19, 2010 he was shipped along with a second round draft pick to the Nashville Predators in exchange for veteran Jason Arnott.

On July 11, 2013, Halischuk signed a one year contract with the Winnipeg Jets.

On the international stage, Halischuk has represented Canada twice, which is highlighted by him scoring the game winning goal in overtime of the Gold Medal game in the 2008 World Junior Championship.
