Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Lars Eller
Lars Eller was born May 8, 1989 in Rødovre, Denmark. He was selected 13th overall by the St. Louis Blues at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, making him at the time, the highest ever drafted Danish born and trained player in NHL history.

Eller began his North American professional career with the Peoria Rivermen, the Blues AHL affiliate, during the 2009-10 season where he put up strong offensive numbers (18 goals, 39 assists for 57 points in 70 games).

In the summer of 2010 he was traded along with Ian Schultz to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for goaltender Jaroslav Halak.

After six seasons in Montreal, which included a 30 point campaign in 2012-13 and a 15 goals in 2014-15, Eller's time in Montreal would come to an end. He was traded to the Washington Capital on June 24, 2016, in exchange for a pair of draft picks.

Eller would establish new career highs in goals and points in 2017-18. Appearing in 81 games for the Capitals he scored 18 times and added 20 assists for 38 points. Eller's strong play would continue in the post-season as he notched 18 points in 24 games, helping the Capitals to the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

On the international stage, Eller has represented his native Denmark numerous times. This is highlighted by four appearances at the IIHF World Championships in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2016.
