Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ryan Hamilton
Ryan Hamilton was born on April 15, 1985, in Oshawa, Ontario. A product of the OPJHL and the OHL, Hamilton was undrafted into the NHL and instead signed as a free agent in the summer of 2006 with the Minnesota Wild.

Hamilton would make his professional debut in the American Hockey League with the Wild's AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros, during the playoffs following the 2005-06 season. He would spend the next two seasons in Houston before being traded in January of 2009 to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Hamilton would spend the majority of his time in the Leafs organization in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies. His strong two-way play and character made him a natural leader on the club and he was named captain.

On March 23, 2012, Hamilton would make his NHL debut for the Maple Leafs in a game against the New Jersey Devils. The Leafs would win the game by a score of 4-3 and Hamilton would record the first assist of his NHL career.

Hamilton would spend the majority of the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season with the Marlies, still serving as the club's captain, but his strong play earned him a spot with the Maple Leafs during the late stages of the season. He saw action in 10 regular season games as well as a pair of playoff games.

On July 5, 2013, Hamilton signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Edmonton Oilers.
