Mathieu Perreault was born on January 5, 1988 in Drummondville, Quebec. An offensive star with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL he was selected 177th overall by the Washington Capitals at the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Perreault made his professional debut with the Hershey Bears of the AHL in 2008 where he continued to put up impressive numbers (50 points in his rookie season).
On November 4, 2009, Perreault finally got the call and made his NHL debut for the Capitals in a game against the New Jersey Devils. In all, he would appear in 21 games for the Caps during the 2009-10 season, recording four goals and five assists.
