Tommy Sestito was born September 28, 1987 in Utica, New York. The third round, 85th overall selection of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Sestito honed his skills in the OHL with the Plymouth Whalers.
A hard checking forward, Sestito steadily increased his point production in his three-year stint with the Plymouth Whalers and in his final year was a point-per-game player. After his junior career, Sestito appeared in 66 games with the Blue Jacket's AHL affiliate in Syracuse and made his NHL debut in a 2007-08 regular season game.
After spending the majority of his time in the Blue Jackets' organization in the American Hockey League, Sestito was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers at the 2011 NHL trade deadline in exchange for Greg Moore and Michael Chaput.
