Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Chris Stewart
Chris Stewart was born on October 30, 1987 in Scarborough, Ontario. In 2006, he was a first round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche after a standout Ontario Hockey League career with the Kingston Frontenacs, where he would play his rookie season with his older brother, Anthony.

After leading the Avalanche AHL affiliate Lake Erie Monsters in goals during the 2007-08 season, Stewart was given his shot with the big club in December of 2008, scoring his first NHL goal, a short-handed marker against the LA Kings on December 9th.

In Colorado, Stewart would begin to establish himself as one of the league's strongest power forwards, playing a physical game that made him a fan favourite in Denver. Surprisingly his time with the Avalanche would come to an abrupt end on February 19, 2011 when he was traded along with defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Erik Johnson and Jay McClement.

It wouldn't take Stewart long to make an impact with his new club. The very day he was traded, he would appear in his first game with the Blues and score twice in a victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

Stewart would appear in all 48 games for the Blues during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season and his 36 points (18 goals and 18 assists) were a club best.

Stewart's time in St. Louis would come to an end on February 28, 2014, in the days leading up to the NHL trade deadline. He was shipped to the Buffalo Sabres along with Jaroslav Halak and a package of draft picks in exchange for Ryan Miller and Steve Ott. Stewart would go on to appear in six games for Buffalo, but would fail to record a point.

Stewart would not last long in Buffalo as he would be traded on March 2, 2015 to the Minnesota Wild for a second round draft pick.

As a free agent, Stewart would sign a one year contract with the Anaheim Ducks on July 12, 2015. After just one season with Anaheim, Stewart, a free agent once again, would sign with the Minnesota Wild in the summer of 2016.
