Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ryan Shannon
Ryan Shannon was born March 2, 1982 in Darien, Connecticut. Undrafted, Shannon opted to sign with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim as a free agent in April, 2005. Prior to making his professional hockey debut, Shannon competed in 154 games at Boston College, collecting 150 points (51-99-150).

An offenseively gifted forward, Shanon honed his skills in the American Hockey League with the Portland Pirates. In the 2005-06 season with the Pirates, Shannon tallied 86 points in 71 games and finished second in AHL rookie scoring. His offensive output with the Pirates earned him a spot on the Ducks roster for the 2006-07 season. After competing in 53 regular season games in his first NHL season, he played in 11 post season games with the Ducks en route to the franchise's first Stanley Cup. His memorable stint with the Ducks came to an abrut end however, as the Darien, Connecticut native was dealt to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Jason King in the off-season that year.

Shannon spent a single season with the Cancuks organization, managing to appear in 27 games with the big club while registering 13 points. His time with the organization was cut short when the team dealt the former Duck to the Ottawa Senators in early September 2008 for Lawrence Nycholat.
