Brad Staubitz was born on July 28, 1984 in Edmonton, Alberta. A product of the OHL, he played three and a half years for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and finished his junior career with the Ottawa 67's.

Though undrafted, he began his professional career in the AHL with the Cleveland Barons in 2005 and when the team relocated to Worcester, so to did Staubitz.

In 2008-09, Staubitz would make his NHL debut and would make his presence known right away getting into a fight in his very first shift with Nathan McIver of the Anaheim Ducks. In all, Staubitz would appear in 35 games for the Sharks in 2008-09.

On June 21, 2010, Staubitz was shipped to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a fifth round draft pick.

On February 10, 2012, Staubitz was placed on waivers. The following day, he cleared waiters and was assigned to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. Staubitz then went on a brief stint with the Montreal Canadiens.

On July 1, 2012 he signed a 2-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks.

Claimed on waivers by Montreal from Minnesota, February 27, 2012. Signed as a free agent by Anaheim, July 1, 2012. Missed majority of 2012-13 as a healthy reserve. Traded to Toronto by Anaheim with Peter Holland for Jesse Blacker, Toronto's 2nd round pick (Marcus Pettersson) in 2014 NHL Draft and Anaheim's 7th round pick (previously acquired, Anaheim selected Ondrej Kase) in 2014 NHL Draft, November 16, 2013.
