Jordan LaVallee was born May 11, 1986 in Corvallis, Oregon. The fourth round, 116th overall selection of the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Lavallee honed his skills in the QMJHL.

A 6-3 power forward, LaVallee registered 139 points in 225 games over four seasons of junior hockey with Quebec from 2002-05. After he helped the Quebec Remparts to the QMJHL Finals, LaVallee went on to make his professional hockey debut with the Thrashers' AHL affiliate in Chicago. In his rookie year in the AHL LaVallee competed in 79 games with the Chicago Wolves and was stellar through 14 playoff games. The following season, he tallied 20 goals, 22 assists for 42 points with the Wolves and earned a call-up to the Thrashers for two games.
