Blair Jones was born September 27, 1986 in Central Butte, Saskatchewan. Selected fourth round, 102 overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Jones is a graduate of the WHLs Red Deer Rebels and Moose Jaw Warriors.

A good playmaking centreman, Jones played 249 games of junior hockey over the course of four years with Red Deer and Moose Jaw before making his professional hockey debut. In his first pro season, he split his time between the Lightning and their AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons.
