Marc-Andre Cliche was born on March 23, 2987 in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec. A product of the Lewiston Maineiacs of the Quebec Major Junior League, Cliche was selected in the second round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers.
On February 5, 2007, Cliche was sent to the Los Angeles Kings as part of a trade that saw the Rangers acquire Sean Avery. He would make his professional debut for the Kings' AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs later that season.
In 2010 Cliche got his first taste of NHL action, appearing in a single game for the Kings.
