Marc-Andre Cliche was born on March 23, 2987 in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec. A product of the Lewiston Maineiacs of the Quebec Major Junior League, Cliche was selected in the second round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers.

On February 5, 2007, Cliche was sent to the Los Angeles Kings as part of a trade that saw the Rangers acquire Sean Avery. He would make his professional debut for the Kings' AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs later that season.

In 2010 Cliche got his first taste of NHL action, appearing in a single game for the Kings.

Missed majority of 2004-05 due to recurring shoulder injury. Traded to Los Angeles by NY Rangers with Jason Ward, Jan Marek and NY Rangers' 3rd round pick (later traded to Buffalo - Buffalo selected Corey Fienhage) in 2008 NHL Draft for Sean Avery and John Seymour, February 5, 2007. Missed majority of 2008-09 due to training camp shoulder injury. Claimed on waivers by Colorado from Los Angeles, September 22, 2013. Traded to NY Islanders by Colorado for Taylor Beck, February 29, 2016. Signed as a free agent by Toronto (AHL), July 4, 2016. Missed majority of 2016-17 as a healthry reserve.
