Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Niclas Bergfors
Nicklas Bergfors was born March 7, 1987 in Sodertalje, Sweden. The first round, 23rd overall selection of the New Jersey Devils in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Bergfors honed his skills in his hometown prior to his arrival in North America.

A strong two-way player, Bergfors made his North American hockey debut with the Devils' AHL affiliate in Albany, New York. After registering a team leading 40 points in 65 games in his rookie campaign in the AHL, Bergfors struggled somewhat the following season to produce as much offensively. In 2007-08, Bergfors had a strong training camp and series of exhibition games with the New Jersey Devils and as a result was awarded by being named to the club's opening night roster. Unfortunately, the Sodertalje, Sweden native injured his shoulder and was eventually sent back to the AHL.

On February 4, 2010, Bergfors was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers as part of a package of players and draft picks that saw the Devils acquire all-star Ilya Kovalchuk.

On February 28, 2011, Bergfors was on the move again. This time he was traded to the Florida Panthers along with Patrick Rissmiller in exchange for Radek Dvorak.
