Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- David Gove
Dave Gove was born May 4, 1978 in Centerville, MA. A free-agent signing by the Carolina Hurricanes in the summer of 2005, Gove is a graduate of the CCHA's Western Michigan University.

A diminutive forward, Gove played four seasons at Western Michigan registering 143 points (57-86-143) while being named to the CCHA All-Star team in his junior and senior years. Named an All-American and a Hobey Baker candidate during his senior season at Western Michigan, Gove led the CCHA with 57 points in 2000-01.

Following an impressive collegiate career, Gove joined the IHL's Orlando Solar Bears in the latter stages of the 2000-01 season and helped the club capture the Turner Cup title. Over the course of the next four seasons, Gove continued to toil in the minors with stops in the AHL and ECHL before joining the Hurricanes in the summer of 2005.

Despite playing the majority of the season with the club's AHL affiliate in Lowell, Gove went on to make his NHL debut with the parent club in the latter stages of the 2005-06 season. Gove was a 'Black Ace' in the Hurricanes playoff run that season, seeing action in only practices and traveling with the eventual Stanley Cup Champions of 2006. The following season, Gove spent most of his time with the club's AHL affiliate in Albany and missed a part of his season with a foot injury. He returned to Albany for the 2007-08 season and spent 49 games with the club before he was dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Joe Jensen on January 31, 2008.
