Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Riley Armstrong
Riley Armstrong was born on November 8, 1984 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Riley spent his junior career in the Western Hockey League, playing with the Kootenay Ice and the Everett Silvertips.

Though he was undrafted, Armstrong signed with the San Jose Sharks in 2004 and joined their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Barons and stayed with the club when it relocated to Worcester Massachusetts. In 2008-09, Riley would make his NHL debut, joining San Jose for two games.

An unrestricted free agent, Armstrong signed with Calgary Flames in the summer of 2009, though his time in Alberta would be brief. On March 3, 2010, the NHL trade deadline, Armstrong was traded to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for defenseman Andy Delmore.
