Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Brandon Yip
Brandon Yip was born on April 25, 1985 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The graduate of Boston University (with whom he won the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship in 2009) was selected in the eighth round of the 2004 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche.

In the summer of 2009 Yip signed a deal with the Avalanche, but his NHL debut was delayed by a broken hand suffered in a preseason game. When healthy, Yip made his first professional appearance for the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. He would only be with Lake Erie a short while however, being recalled to Colorado after only six games.

Yip did not waste any time acclimating himself to NHL life. He recorded 11 goals in his first 22 games and was only slowed down by a shoulder injury suffered against the Detroit Red Wings. He returned in the closing stages of the 2009-10 season to helped the Avalanche into the Stanley Cup Playoffs and was the club's second-leading post-season scorer.
