Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Mike Brown
Mike Brown was born June 24, 1985 in Northbrook, Illinois. The Vancouver Canucks fifth round, 159th overall selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Brown spent a pair of years honing his skills in the U.S. National Team Development Program before he attended the University of Michigan.

A hard working forward, Brown appeared in 77 games over two seasons with the University of Michigan Wolverines. He often used his physical edge to dominate opponents and not unexpectedly led the club in penalty minutes. Over the next three seasons, Brown would spend the majority of his time with the Cancuks' AHL affiliate in Manitoba and see action in 19 regular season games in Vancouver throughout the 2007-08 schedule.

On February 4, 2009 Brown was dealt to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Nathan McIver.

After appearing in 103 games for the Ducks over the next two seasons, the rugged winger was traded to Toronto on June 26, 2010 in exchange for a fifth round draft pick.

In three seasons with the Leafs, Brown provided the club with a much needed physical pressence. His strong, rugged play made him a favourite among teammates and fans alike.

On March 4, 2013, Brown's time in Toronto would come to an end. He was traded by the Maple Leafs to the Edmonton Oilers, in exchange for a conditional fourth round pick in the 2014 NHL draft.

At the beginning of the 2013-14 season, Brown was traded by the Oilers to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a fourth round draft choice on October 21, 2013.
