Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Kevin Porter
Kevin Porter was born on March 12, 1986 in Northville, Michigan and was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Porter would spend the next four seasons at the University of Michigan, winning the Hobey Baker Award in 2008.

In 2008-09, Porter would split time between the Phoenix Coyotes and their AHL affiliate club, the San Antonio Rampage, scoring five times for the big club and adding 13 in the AHL.

On March 3, 2010, the NHL trade deadline, Porter's time in Phoenix would come to an end. He was traded to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Wojtek Wolski.

Porter played three seasons in Colorado before he left as a free agent when he signed a two year contract with the Buffalo Sabres on July 5, 2012. With the Sabres organization, he split his seasons between the Sabres and their AHL affiliate, the Rochester American, a team he captained.

As a free agent once again, Porter signed a one year contract with the Detroit Red Wings on July 1, 2014. He never played a game for the Red Wings as he was assigned to their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins for the 2014-15 season.

On July 1, 2015, Porter was on the move again, this time signing a one year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Porter would crack the Penguins opening night lineup and would appear 41 games for the club before his season was cut short by injury. The Penguins would go on to capture the fourth Stanley Cup title in franchise history with Porter meeting the minimum games required to have his name engraved on the trophy.

In the summer of 2017, Porter signed as a free agent with the Buffalo Sabres.
