Chad LaRose was born March 27, 1982 in Fraser, Michigan. A graduate of the USHL's Sioux Falls Stampede, LaRose went on to play three seasons in the OHL with the Plymouth Whalers registering 201 points (111-90-201). A member of the United States World Junior team in 2002 LaRose went on to make his professional debut in 2003-04.

Following an impressive junior career, LaRose split his first professional season between the ECHL's Florida Everblades and the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters before becoming a permanent fixture in the Lowell lineup in 2004-05.

In 2005-06, LaRose split his time between Lowell and Carolina. During the Carolina Hurricanes drive to the Stanley Cup in 2006, LaRose played in all but four games for the club. LarRose earned his first career playoff point in game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers.
