Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Karl Stewart
Karl Stewart was born June 30, 1983 in Aurora, Ontario. A free-agent signing of the Atlanta Thrashers in the summer of 2001, Stewart is a graduate of the OHLs Plymouth Whalers.

In three seasons with Plymouth, Stewart notched 151 points (64-87-151) and was considered one of the fastest and best skaters in the OHL, as well as its Best Body Checker. A strong two-way player, Stewart made his professional and NHL debut with the Thrashers in 2003-04, splitting his time between Atlanta and its AHL affiliate in Chicago.

Stewart would spend the next pair of seasons with the Chicago Wolves before being sent to the Anaheim Ducks. He would be claimed off waivers first by the Pittsburgh Penguins, and then by the Chicago Blackhawks.

Stewart appeared in 37 games with the Blackhawks in the 2006-07 season before the club opted to send him to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Nikita Alexeev.
