Grant Stroshein was born April 4, 1980 in Calgary, Alberta. A hulking winger at 6'7" and 245lbs, Stroshein played 11 games with the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds in 1998-99 before spending the majority of the following year with the BCHL's Chilliwack Chiefs.
Not drafted, Stroshein played 55 games with Chilliwack while playing a handful of games with the WCHL's San Diego Gulls. Not known for his offensive prowess, Stroshein toiled in the WCHL and ECHL for the next two seasons before making his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals in 2003-04.
After splitting the 2004-05 season between the AHL and ECHL, Stroshein was acquired by the Boston Bruins in the summer of 2005.
