Troy Bodie was born January 25, 1985 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. He played his junior hockey for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League and was drafted in 2003 by the Edmonton Oilers.

Prior to signing with the Anaheim Ducks as an unrestricted free agent, he spent time in the AHL with the Hamilton Bulldogs and Springfield Falcons. Upon joining the Ducks organization, Bodie was assigned to their AHL affiliate the Iowa Chops, but he managed to appear in four games for the NHL club, failing to register a point.

On November 16, 2010, Bodie was claimed off of waivers from the Ducks by the Carolina Hurricanes.
