Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Nate Thompson
Nate Thompson was born October 5, 1984 in Anchorage, Alaska. Boston's eighth pick, 183rd overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Thompson is a graduate of the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds.

A reliable two-way centreman, Thomson spent four seasons with the Seattle Thunderbirds and helped the club finish first in their division in 2004-05. After signing a try-out agreement with the Providence Bruins of the AHL, Thompson made his professional debut in 2005-06 competing in 74 games with the club. The following year Thompson saw action in a handful of games with the Boston Bruins and made his NHL debut on October 21, 2006.

On October 8, 2008, Thompson would be claimed off waivers by the New York Islanders. After playing in 39 games for the club, he was placed on waivers where the Tampa Bay Lightning would claim him on January 21, 2010.

Thompson would find a home in Tampa Bay, spending four seasons with Lightning, which included a run to the Stanley Cup Final. On June 29, 2014, Thompson's time in Tampa would come to an end. He was traded to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a fourth and seventh round draft pick.

After three seasons in the Ducks organization, Thompson became an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2017 and signed a deal with the Ottawa Senators on July 1. Thompson's time in the nation's capital would be short-lived however. After appearing in just 43 games for the Senators, with the trade-deadline looming, he was sent alongside Dion Phaneuf to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Marian Gaborik and Nick Shore.
