Brad Richardson was born February 4, 1985 in Belleville, Ontario. The fifth round, 163rd overall selection of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Richardson is a graduate of the OHL's Owen Sound Attack.

An offensively gifted forward, Richardson played four seasons in Owen Sound registering 213 points (87-126-213) and capturing team MVP honours three of his four years with the club.

In the fall of 2005 Richardson made his professional debut with the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters before being summoned by the Avs in the early stages of the 2005-06 season.

On June 21, 2008 Richardson was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a second round draft choice.

During the 2009-10 season, Richardson would solidify his spot with the Kings, appearing in 81 games and posting 27 points.

In 2011-12 Richardson was part of the Los Angeles Kings club that stormed through the Western Conference playoffs and defeated the New Jersey Devils to capture the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

On July 5, 2013, Richardson signed as a free agent to a two-year contract worth 1.15 million per year with the Vancouver Canucks.

After two seasons with the Canucks, Richardson would sign a three year contract with the Arizona Coyotes on July 1, 2015.

Richardson appeared in all 82 games for the Coyotes during his first season with the club, producing the highest offensive totals of his career with 11 goals and 20 assists. An injury limited him to just 16 games during the 2016-17 season, but Richardson bounced back to suit up in 76 games in 2017-18.
