Danny Irmen was born on September 6, 1984 in Fargo, North Dakota. Selected 78th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild, the University of Minnesota product spent the early part of his professional career with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League.

In 2009-10, Irmen made his first NHL appearance, seeing action in two games for the Minnesota Wild.
