Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Maxim Lapierre
Maxim Lapierre was born October 3, 1984 in St-Lenoard, Quebec. The third round, 61st overall selection of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Lapierre is a graduate of the QMJHL's Montreal/PEI Rocket.

After getting a taste of junior hockey in 2001-02, Lapierre went on to play three more seasons in the QMJHL, registering 158 points (74-84-158) before making his professional debut in 2005-06.

A skilled forward, Lapierre spent the better part of the 2005-06 season with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs while seeing his first taste of the NHL midway through the season.

By 2007-08, Lapierre was beginning to establish himself as one of the better agitators in the NHL. His gritty play and seemingly never-ending verbal exchanges with opponents made him a favorite among the Montreal faithful.

In 2008-09, Lapierre added an offensive dimension to his game. He scored 15 goals for Montreal, a career high, as were his 13 assists and 76 penalty minutes.

On New Year's Eve 2010, Lapierre's time in Montreal would come to an end. He was shipped to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Brett Festerling. His time with the Ducks would be brief however. On February 28, 2011, the NHL trade deadline, he found himself on the move again. This time dealt to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Joel Perreault and a third round draft pick.
