Anthony Stewart was born January 5, 1985 in Lasalle, Quebec. The second choice 25th overall selection of the Florida Panthers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Stewart is a graduate of the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs.

A power-forward with an offensive touch around the net, Stewart played four seasons in Kingston registering 238 points (118-120-238) before making his professional debut in the spring of 2005 with Florida's AHL affiliate in San Antonio. A two-time member of Canada's World Junior team (2004-2005), capturing silver in 2004 and gold in 2005, Stewart went on to spend the majority of the 2005-06 season in the AHL with the Rochester Americans while making his NHL debut with Florida that same season.

After four seasons in the Panther organization that saw Stewart split time with the big club and their AHL affiliate in Rochester, the big winger would sign as a free agent with the Atlanta Thrashers in July of 2009.

After one season in Atlanta, where he scored 14 goals and added 25 assists, Stewart signed with the Carolina Hurricanes as an unrestricted free agent on July 2, 2011. He would appear in 77 games for the Hurricanes the following year, scoring nine times and adding 11 assists.

Prior to the start of the lockout-delayed 2012-13 season, Stewart was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange fore Kevin Westgarth. He was later assigned o the club's AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs.
