Pierre-Marc Bouchard was born April 27, 1984 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The 1st choice, 8th overall selection of the Minnesota Wild in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Bouchard is a graduate of the QMJHL's Chicoutimi Sagueneens.

The Sherbrook, Quebec native spent two seasons in Chicoutimi, finishing second in rookie scoring (38-57-95) and was named the league's Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2000-01, while being named QMJHL Top Offensive Player and to the league's First All-Star Team and chosen Canadian Hockey League Player of the Year the following year after scoring (46-94-140) in only his second season.

A member of Canada's Under-18 Team at the 2002 World Junior Championships, Bouchard led Team Canada in scoring with four goals and eight assists in eight games and was a member of Canada's Silver Medal World Junior team in 2003. After two seasons with Chicoutimi, Bouchard made his NHL debut with the Wild in 2002-03, suiting up for 50 regular season games and tallying 20 points (7-13-20).

In his sophomore season, the former Sagueneens continued to hone his skills with the Wild, and was rewarded with increased ice time throughout 2005-06 appearing in 80 games.
