Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Boyd Gordon
Boyd Gordon was born October 19, 1983 in Unity, Saskatchewan. The first round, 17th overall selection of the Washington Capitals in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Gordon is a graduate of the WHL's Red Deer Rebels.

Over his four year career in Red Deer, Gordon tallied 207 points (77-130-207) and went on to represent Canada at the 2003 World Junior Championships, capturing a Silver Medal. In 2003-04, Gordon split his first season as a professional between Washington and the team's AHL affiliate in Portland.

Due to the NHL lockout, he spent his entire 2004-05 season with the Portland Pirates of the AHL where he was tied for third on the team in scoring. When the league returned to action, he split his time between the Capitals and their new AHL affiliate in Hershey. He was a regular in the Caps line-up throughout the 2006-07 season, establishing career highs in games (71), goals (7), assists (22) and points (29).

Gordon would miss the majority of the 2009-10 season due to a back injury and as an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2011, he inked a deal with the Phoenix Coyotes.

After two seasons with the Coyotes, Gordon signed as a free agent with the Edmonton Oilers on July 5, 2013. He would spend two seasons in Edmonton before being traded back to the Coyotes on June 30, 2015 in exchange for Lauri Korpikoski

A free agent again in the summer of 2016, Gordon signed with the Philadelphia Flyers on July 1.
