David Moss was born December 28, 1981 in Livonia Michigan. Drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the 7th round, 220th overall, Moss is a graduate of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's University of Michigan Wolverines.
A power forward, Moss made his professional debut with the Flames' AHL affiliate, the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights in 2005-06. As a member of the Knights, he finished third in team scoring with 21 goals, 48 points and was the club's leading scoring rookie. The following season, Moss was recalled by the Calgary Flames on December 19th, 2006, and on that same day he would score his first NHL goal.
