Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Stephane Veilleux
Stephane Veilleux was born November 16, 1981 in Beauceville, Quebec. The third round choice, 93rd overall selection of the Minnesota Wild in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Veilleux is a graduate of the QMJHL.

An offensively gifted player, Veilleux spent three seasons in the QMJHL with stops in Victoriaville and Val d'Or where he had his most productive season in 2000-01 when he registered 48 goals and 115 points before leading the Foreurs to the QMJHL Playoff championship and from one goal of the 2001 Memorial Cup title.

In 2001-02 Veilleux made his professional debut with the Wild's AHL affiliate in Houston tallying 35 points (13-22-35) in 77 games. Coming off a strong rookie campaign, the Beauceville native split the next two seasons between Houston and the parent club in Minnesota.

By 2005, Veilleux had established himself as a bona-fide NHLer. In the next four seasons, he would play over 70 games for the Wild each year and contribute primarily in a checking role, but would also score a career best 13 goals in 2008-09.

In the summer of 2009, Veilleux became an unrestricted free agent and signed on with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

After spending some time playing in Europe, Veilleux signed a one-year deal with the New Jersey Devils on July 29, 2011. He would spend the majority of the 2011-12 season with the club's AHL affiliate before being traded on February 24, 2012, along with Kurtis Foster and Nick Palmieri for Marek idlický.
