Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ray Emery
Ray Emery was born September 28, 1982 in Hamilton, Ontario. The fourth round, 99th overall selection of the Ottawa Senators in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Emery is a graduate of the OHLs Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Prior to joining the Greyhounds in 1999-00, the Hamilton, Ontario native spent the early part of the year with Welland of the GHOJB. Emery would spend the better part of three years with in the Sault, before joining the Senators AHL affiliate in Binghamton in 2002-03. Upon his arrival in Binghamton, Emery saw action in 50 games with the Senators affiliate, finishing the year with a 27-17-6 record while seeing action in three games with the parent club.

In his sophomore year, the former Greyhound continued to hone his skills in the AHL while playing in a handful of games with the parent club. In 2005-06 he posted a respectable 23-11-4 record with a 2.82 GAA with the Sens. However, his best season came in 2006-07 when he went 33-16-6 in 58 regular-season games. In the NHL playoffs that year, he went 13-7 and helped the Senators advance to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time. In his third full season with the Senators, Emery struggled and eventually lost the starting job to Martin Gerber mid-way through the season. The Senators were swept from the first round of the NHL playoffs that season and shortly after he was placed on waivers by the club.

In the summer of 2008, Emery signed a one-year, $2 million contract with Atlant Mytishchi of the new Continental Hockey League.
