Marcel Goc was born August 24, 1983 in Calw, Germany. The first round 20th overall selection of the San Jose Sharks in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Goc, honed his skills in the DEL before opting to bring his game to North America in the fall of 2003.

In his first season with the Sharks organization, Goc spent entire regular season with the club's AHL affiliate in Cleveland before seeing his first action with the parent club during the 2004 post season.

After registering 37 points (16-21-37) in his rookie season, Goc improved on his totals in 2004-05, finishing the season with 50 points (16-34-50).

On the international stage, Goc has represented his homeland on numerous occasions including at the World Championships, the World Cup of Hockey and the Olympic Winter Games.

In the summer of 2009, Goc signed on with the Nashville Predators as an unrestricted free-agent.

In two seasons in Nashville, Goc posted campaigns of 12 and 9 goals respectively while providing the Predators with solid faceoff prowess and defensive responsibility.

In the summer of 2011, as an unrestricted free agent, Goc signed a deal with the Florida Panthers.
