Colin Stuart was born July 8, 1983 in Rochester, Minnesota. The fifth round, 135th overall selection of the Atlanta Thrashers, Stuart honed his skills at Colorado College.

A speedy winger, Stuart tallied 77 points in 156 games over his four-year career at Colorado College from 2000-2004. He proved his durability during his tenure in Colorado by appearing in 135 consecutives games through 2000-2003. After his four years of college hockey, Stuart made his professional hockey debut with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. He went on to spend two and a half seasons with the Wolves before the Thrashers called up the Rochester, Minnesota native for a game against Boston Bruins on December 29, 2007. Stuart went on to see action in 18 games with the Thrashers and register five points.
